Olave Snelling (Chairman)
Olave Snelling is a Media strategist and an award winning TV/Radio producer and presenter. Having worked on four continents in print journalism, TV, radio and film, her role as Chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Council gives her prayer and passion for the proclamation of the Gospel a wide platform.
Chris Cole
Chris Cole (FRSA) founded Cross Rhythms in 1983, and established Cornerstone House & Marketing in 1985. He was appointed to the board of Gilead Foundations in 1991. In the ’90’s Chris acted as Executive Director and Trustee at United Christian Broadcasters, and until recently was the UK & Ireland Regional Director of GOD TV. He is now focused on developing the strategy of the ‘Word in Action’ collaboration of Cross Rhythms, Cornerstone and Gilead.

Canon Ian Gooding (Chairman)
Ian Gooding started out as an engineer (B.Sc., B.Com., C.Eng etc), and spent most of his time playing rugby and rifle shooting. Then he responded to the Lord’s call to full time ministry; so there followed three years at theological college, playing more rugby, and then a curacy in Wandsworth where, among other things, he narrated and sang in Come Together and If My People.
He served thirty-five years with distinction as Rector of Stanton-by-Dale with Dale Abbey and Risley, in Derbyshire, where they saw the Lord do amazing things. He was also Rural Dean of Erewash for fifteen years and Honorary Canon of Derby Cathedral. He is now retired and as Canon Emeritus and Additional Chaplain at Derby Cathedral, he has a variety of responsibilities.
Ex member of General Synod of Church of England (retired clergy are not eligible) and currently a Trustee of the Church of England Pensions Board. Main hobbies: season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers, singing with the Grand Central Chorus – five times UK Barbershop Chorus champions and five times representing the UK at the International Convention, collecting things, grandchildren! Married to Kathleen, 3 married children and 11 grandchildren, all following the Lord, and children and children-in-law include a professor, an orthopaedic surgeon and a police inspector. Chair of CBC Trustees – since 1988.
Andrew Boyd
Andrew Boyd is a journalist, author and communications consultant with 30 years’ experience. He is a pastor with a calling to church and media.
As a freelance, he works across the media in print, radio, TV and the Internet. He is the Press Officer for Release International, which serves the persecuted church. Recent positions include Press Secretary for Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali and Head of Communications for Bible Society.
He has been a reporter for Channel 4’s Dispatches, and has worked for BBC Radio 4, 5 Live and the World Service. His features have appeared in the Observer, Sunday Telegraph and the Guardian. He has won ten awards in recent years for new media and documentary film-making.
Andrew directs and produces TV documentaries, produces corporate videos and has presented and produced the multiple award-winning TV series World Update. He also produces and presents TV chat shows.
For more than 20 years Andrew has combined journalism with media and presentation coaching. Trainees range from chief executives to senior civil servants. Andrew trains them to handle the media with confidence and put across their messages with clarity.
He has coached spokespeople to appear on heavyweight news programmes, such as Today and Channel 4 News, as well as chat shows. His extensive client list ranges from multi-national CEOs to the charity sector and the Cabinet Office.
Andrew has written 12 books, including several on the media – notably ‘How to Handle Media Interviews’. Titles include six editions of the leading textbook ‘Broadcast Journalism’, the number one primer for trainee broadcasters, which has been translated into several languages. His latest is ‘Videoschool’, a manual for guerrilla film-makers.
Andrew’s broadcast trainees include many who have gone on to become top correspondents for the BBC. He is currently training journalists internationally for UNESCO and others, and has recently drawn up a roadmap for journalism in the emerging democracies in the Arab world.
Donald Burling
Born 1932, lived in the Greater London area all his life. He worked in local authority accounts until early retirement in 1988. He was brought up with Exclusive Brethren, and has had various church involvements since including Pentecostal. He is currently a member of Acton Hill Church (Methodist/URC). Donald is member of the Prison Fellowship, for several years visited Feltham Young Offenders Institution with a Chaplain’s team. He is an active member of the Conservative Party and the Conservative Christian Fellowship. Donald is the author of book “Brain-Storm” on current affairs, also of a number of “Sermons in Song”.

J Peter Wilson
Following a career in broadcasting J Peter Wilson acts as the Broadcasting Consultant to the Christian Broadcasting Council (CBC).
Peter first worked in radio as a volunteer at BBC Radio Leeds, while working in the West Riding textile industry; he then worked for a major UK publishing company before moving full-time into UK commercial radio and then overseas Christian radio broadcasting.
He was involved in parliamentary lobbying in relation to the Broadcasting Act 1990, the Communications Act 2003 and the Digital Economy Act 2010 that gave operating flexibility to commercial radio and enabled Christian broadcasting to start and then flourish by being able to broadcast nationally via satellite TV and DAB radio as well as on community radio.
